Meet our Wedding Party

You might not know everyone in our wedding party - so here is a little bit about who they all are:

Matt (Faff) Cairns: Best Man

Faff is Richard's "brother from another mother": part of the South African family that Rich lived with when he first came to New Zealand.

Rich and Faff first bonded over their legendary attempts to beat each other at squash, tennis and any other ball sport they could find. Faff is the only person to have ever hit Rich in the teeth on the squash court (Richard maintains that he did this on purpose), and he remains the second best squash player in the bridal party.

Ryan King: Groomsman

Ryan is Richard's older brother.

When Robyn brought Rich home from the hospital as a brand new baby, Ryan pushed him out of the bed.
Luckily, things improved over the years, and by the time they got to boarding school, Ryan would leave biscuits under little Richard's pillow to ensure that he had enough to eat despite the strict hierarchical school system.

Murray (Muzz) King: Groomsman

Muzz is Richard's younger brother.

He is the tough guy of the family- moulded by the incessant teasing of his two older brothers, and his tendency towards being accident prone. Not many can live to tell the tale of a rugby post to the head!

Muzz and Rich are forever coming up with new business ideas and can spend hours debating the finer points of politics, taxes and speeding fines.

Ellen Ross: Bridesmaid

Ellen is Kate's little sister, and official creator of invitations and other paper goods for the wedding.

When Kate and Ellen were very young, people used to compliment their mother on her beautiful twin boys... probably because of their short golden curly hair. These days, they are usually mistaken for twin girls instead. Phew!
Michelle Marcuson: Bridesmaid

Michelle and Kate have been friends since they were 13 years old.

At school, Michelle had a series of not very charming nicknames for Kate such as "Porthole Head"; "Witchy Shoes" and "Date" - really, it is a wonder they are still friends!

They flatted together at University in Dunedin, and again afterwards in Auckland. They now live 3 minutes drive apart in Sydney.

Kate Ashcroft: Bridesmaid

Kate and Kate have been friends since Kate Ross' first day of school, aged 5. In a small rural school of only 30 pupils, it was decided that the two little girls with the same name must naturally be best friends...and so a friendship was formed over a shared love of imaginary ponies and making mud pies.

This friendship has lasted over 25 years.
